What’s the difference between the Del Mar Heights PTA and the Del Mar Schools Education Foundation (DMSEF)?
Great question! We get this one all the time. The PTA pays for resources, materials, and equipment. The PTA also funds over 50 programs and events in the areas of the arts, education, and our school community. The DMSEF pays for the salaries of STEAM+ teachers. Another distinction is that the money you give to the PTA stays at Del Mar Heights and is spent on this year’s programs. Contributions you make toward the DMSEF are pooled into a districtwide budget and are used to pay next year’s salaries. Here’s a graphic with more detail:

Why should I give money to both the PTA and the DMSEF?
We like to explain the difference by saying that the PTA pays for the microscopes and the DMSEF pays for the science teacher. We need both to succeed.
