SciFri was designed by PTA parents who wanted to enhance the science experiences of young students. We continue this mission today, working to spark students' passion for science before they realize what's happening!
One Friday evening per month, we invite experts in the sciences to share their scientific passion with our students. SciFri is an event where parents are encouraged to participate and interact with their child(ren). NOTE: these are NOT drop off events. Typically we break the event into two sessions based on grade level. All sign-ups are done online. Are you or is someone you know a potential speaker? We have the funding, equipment and volunteers to support you! Questions? Please don't hesitate to contact Stephanie Bernstein or Arzo Nasiri |
SciFri: Sky Dome!
Friday, January 25th, 6:30-7:15pm Sage Canyon MUR Date: Friday, January 24th Location: Sage Canyon MUR (please note the offsite location) Address: 5920 Harvest Run Drive, San Diego, CA 92130 Time: We will hold four sessions that run for approximately 45 minutes each. The first session begins at 4:10pm and the last session begins at 6:55pm. Description: We're bringing back the Sky Dome for another outta-this-world SciFri event! Our solar system is comprised of our Sun and everything else that travels around it. Our own planet is not even a tiny speck in our solar system, and our solar system is not even a tiny grain of dust in something that we call the Universe. The immersive Sky Dome presentation will bring students and adults under the dome to learn more about the solar system and how it has changed throughout human history. The presentation will closely observe the latest images of various planets, moons and dwarf planets in our solar system. It will also bring us on a journey into our past and our future as we explore various astronomical events such as planetary transits and lunar eclipses. Click here to sign-up. Questions?
