Science Friday

SciFri (aka, Science Friday) was designed by PTA parents to enhance our students' science experiences. We continue this mission today, working to spark students' passion for science. Unique experts from a variety of fields share their knowledge with our students via events held throughout the school year. These are not drop-off events; rather, SciFri evenings encourage parents to participate and interact with their child(ren).

Questions? Ideas? We would LOVE your involvement in SciFri’s this year — in any capacity from conceiving an event to helping with set-up/tear-down, or simply helping spread the word to encourage attendance among Heights families.

Did you know?

During the 2025-2026 school year, we relied heavily on vendors for SciFri programming; however, in years past, these events were often spearheaded by interested parents with science backgrounds.

What this involves: Coming up with the content and age-appropriate, hands-on activities.

If you and your child love all things STEAM+, this is a wonderful opportunity to share your passion with the community.

2024-2025

SciFri evenings included a visit from Pacific Animal Productions’ animal ambassadors (kookaburra, skunk, python, alligator, and ferret!), Dolphin Doctor night (learning about marine mammal medicine), a mobile ed STEAM museum, and an Earth Day celebration with I Love A Clean San Diego.

2022-2023

Throughout the year, Heights students took part in events that featured reptiles, rocket building, hands-on science experiments, and exploring the magic of science!!
