Science Olympiad
Del Mar Heights launched its Science Olympiad program during the ‘25-’26 school year. Science Olympiad is a prominent, national, non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of science education, increasing student interest in STEM fields, and providing recognition for outstanding achievement.
Who 🧑🏻🔬
Student teams, typically consisting of up to 15 members from the 4th through 6th grades, are supported by parent volunteers who serve as coaches and help run practices (bi-weekly on Wednesdays for 60 minutes in the MUR from December through the early spring competition; practices run weekly in the weeks immediately preceding it).
What 🔭
Teams collaborate and compete in a variety of events spanning scientific and engineering disciplines. They showcase their completed projects at a regional Science Olympiad competition, historically held on a Saturday in late February at San Diego Miramar College.

These were impressive showings within a large, competitive field — and truly exceptional results for our small, first-time teams!
